Pete has been involved in renewable energy and sustainability for about 20 years. He was a director of the International Solar Energy Society, and attended COP15 in Copenhagen. Part of the team that started the Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) group in Canberra 12 years ago, Pete has attended the last 5 AEVA National Conventions. He lives near Pambula/Merimbula, in a passive solar, sustainable home. Pete and his wife bought a BMW i3 about 3 1/2 years ago. He has covered 50,000km, mostly doing a weekly 500 km return commute to Canberra where he works part time. This initially required a 3 hour recharge at the Cooma Showgrounds each way, doubling travel time. After the Cooma NRMA ChargeFox facility opened, recharging was reduced to a half hour. Pete recently purchased a Tesla Model 3, which has a range exceeding 500km, and drove it to Adelaide, to get to know it. He converts bikes to e-bikes as a hobby. Pete passionately believes in a fully sustainable, zero carbon future; and the electrification of everything - especially all forms of transport.
